Re: Complete new computer components finally to be ordered by end of week!
isnt this mobo good enough?

Do you really need a 150GB raptor? i'd just get a 74GB and use it for Operating system and games, but whatever..

Re: Complete new computer components finally to be ordered by end of week!
alright, but the case looks fugly.. this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811133154 = definetely something to instantly let others know how beefed up your pc is.
i plan on getting an upgrade that hopefully wont cost more than 550$ (god, the ram prices are a bitch!!)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Conroe http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115005
GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128012
Crucial Technology 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 667 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148017
I've read that this ram can do 1000mhz at 4-4-4-12.
Re: Complete new computer components finally to be ordered by end of week!
I see no power supply in the list and would strongly advise against the P180 case.
I'll grant that the Antec case is quieter than most but it's thermal capabilities are awful and the assembly/cable routing is atrocious.
If you insist on that case, pay very special attention to your motherboard layout and the length of the cabling on your PSU.

Yeah, I can personally attest to the cabling aspect, I had to buy cable extenders for my psu. The psu goes at the bottom with just a small hole to pull all the cables through you need for the board.
I get good temps with the fans on low though and it does look nice. :ermm:
Edit: One other shit about the case is that you need to open the door to get to the power switch and reset switch.

Ok, I added my psu, I'm looking at the Rosewill, do you know if it's any good, also what case do you recommend? Is that case Formula 1 recommended (badass case tho, I already did look at it, it is just a little pricey for my budget) somewhat quiet, or if not are there any other good cases to look at?
@Cheese - Yeah I noticed the power and reset button, damn.
@Formula 1 - Those memory prices are fucked up but I'm not waiting any longer.
Re: Complete new computer components finally to be ordered by end of week!
Ok, I updated the whole list! Brace yourselves!!!
Re: Complete new computer components finally to be ordered by end of week!
ROFL, i'd avoid that rosewill psu for your own good. it doesnt even support sli for fucks sake.
http://forums.extremeoverclocking.co...d.php?t=136602
this ocz seems delicate, it can support 2x 7800gtx 512mb's!
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341001
and BTW why would you need 3x pci-e slots? the third slot operate at 8x speed instead of 16x.. and where does it say p965's aren't great for ocing???.. this board http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128012, can easily overclock an e6300 from 1.86ghz to 3.3ghz easily...
Re: Complete new computer components finally to be ordered by end of week!

Hey I sent u a PM I forgot to tell you, my 6600 gt is totally fucked up. The fan is about to fall off now, lol. You should consider upgrading too if ur parts are dated (like I said in the pm :P ).
Re: Complete new computer components finally to be ordered by end of week!
nice new system bro. i was getting pretty much the exact same thing. exact. i was going 1066 ram though, but ur 800 is fine. ati instead of nvidia. GREAT hsf & cpu!!! same mb too!

why not? and it doesn't run @ 8x. it runs @ 4x and it's for physics accelerator. that would be great! even though the intel core 2 quad uses one of its cores to do that for u so cum next month the 3rd slot maybe useless depending on how much the quad will cost.
but i will totally recommend this psu over anything u've heard so far.
and this is gonna be my chassis. i'll just take out that psu and put that unstoppable pc power & cooling in it's place. we'll have to compare benches when we are done! gl & hf.

I just ordered all the parts. (was around $1704 :whistling)
Thanks, mr. nails, fuckin sweet parts, but I'm not paying over $120 for my psu, I also looked at that case, sweet. I really was interested in that Asus so I'm glad I got it.
Thanks guys for the input on everything, I can't wait to get my parts and I will post 3d mark 06 scores maybe later (I will be comparing to ur beast of a computer :), mr. nails).
Btw, I don't really see a point in a quad core cpu yet as not many apps and games are even optimised for dual. Intel is just trying to crush any chance AMD has right now.

Your PSU unit is very important for your system's own stability. Getting crap will leave the "whole" darn thing giving random restarts and what-not.
Good PSU Brands I know of: Antec, Seasonic, Corsair
Terrible PSU Brands I know of: PowMax! (The worst. I've heard of them poping on first try! Literally frying entire systems! If they come in a case, I prefer to call them...packing material...like 99% of PSUs that come in a case.)

 which one did you grab?
Those cheap ones seem all nice at first, but they creep up on ya after a few months. Restart there, Restart here. Hope ya get a nice heavy PSU atleast hehe. Weight=Quality
btw, Those PowMax Bastards are still in business!!! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817163018 >:( Innocent people are frying their systems with that god forsaken (literally LOL) daemon... It burns out after 2 years? I used one years ago on a different system and it restarted 20 times in the same month. I was copying a DVD one day and teh whole system shut off immediately. Suddendly the Drive went "POP!". The loudest fuckin pop noise! 2 seconds later the whole room reaked on burnt components. (components lost...CPU, Motherboard, and of course that poor DVD drive.)
Re: Complete new computer components finally to be ordered by end of week!
OK OK I got my computer yesterday and it took me 6 hours to install everything with a few breaks in between (yeah I know :(). That Thermaltake case is a FUCKIN MONSTER it is 43 pounds and just the box it came in was gigantic. I thought newegg fucked my order up with a tv at first seeing it. My Zalmann heatsink took atleast 2 hours to install, I swear, what a beast, I ended up reappling my artic silver because dust was already setting. I did not know about the support that you have to put UNDER the mobo, that gave me trouble! Everything else was easy to install. Memory and Graphics card just poped in like they should, very easy. PSU also fit in great along with DVD burner, and the hdd, although took me a few minutes to understand the tooless feature. I LOVE the cooling in the case too (thanks Formula1 for recommending it to me!). Right now I gotta wait 2 hours for windows xp pro 64bit to finish installing then I can atually boot into THE FUCKIN BEAST!!!!!! RAWRRRR (thats what I call it. :D). It feels good to spend more money into something. :)
@Wolfmight- A quality 580w psu for under $30, not possible, I would not expect anything out of it.
Top review on newegg:
Other Thoughts: looks cool, works well (mine anyway). Seems like it is kinda hit or miss with this one, but for the $$ it is worth a shot
LOL, thats a huge bet to place on a whole computer.
