Graphics Card Guru's Read!!!
I just bought me a Nvidia Geforce 6800 and was wondering if it is faster then the Nvidia 6600. Anyways more questions. My Gpu core temp is 58 Celcius, and ambient temp is 44 Celcius is that normal??? Also is there a way I can find out how much this card can be clocked? That's all! Thanks
Re: Graphics Card Guru's Read!!!
of course the 6800 is faster than 6600.... i mean you can tell by the number.. 6800 is higher than 6600 which means its BETTER!
Re: Graphics Card Guru's Read!!!
Well there were some cards i've seen that even if the number was greater it could of been worse anyways i want some more of my questions answered!!!
Re: Graphics Card Guru's Read!!!
Where are you getting the temps from?
44c seems unreasonably high for ambient heat and I would work on reducing that before OCing the card.

9200 is higher than 6800, i better sell my 6800 and buy a 9200 right away.... wanker
Re: Graphics Card Guru's Read!!!
ya get that temp lower. if you can't thjen don't oc it!
if you get it down then start rising the core's clock a little then play for a while and see if you get artifacts and check the temps. then repeat.
same for the memory clock speed (of the card).
Re: Graphics Card Guru's Read!!!
"yeah but ours goes up to 11"
Re: Graphics Card Guru's Read!!!
Oops I read on the box it sayed Nvidia geforce 6800 oc over clocked so im guessing they already did it.... its some company called Bfg
Re: Graphics Card Guru's Read!!!
Here take a look at this pic and tell me if it is celscious or farenheit I can't really tell C could mean something else http://img90.exs.cx/img90/738/untitled2yn.jpg
Re: Graphics Card Guru's Read!!!
That core slowdown threshhold is crazy...I wouldnt think it could go near that high...and 57C is pretty high...its celcius...you should get some good cooling. BTW this is bigdawgfoxx lol
Re: Graphics Card Guru's Read!!!
yea nvidia is ****ed up...
it shows GPU core temp in F and the ambient in C
i get the same temps on my fx5600...
btw why would u overlock 6800??? are u on drugs? are u high?are u l33t clocker? have u completely lost your mind and all u care about is benchmarks??

u should've stated that in your first post, some ppl (n00bs) will be like:
"oh shit!!! my 6800gt sux0rz cuz monkeee said so, so i shall sell this and by a radeon 8500 :01:"
Re: Graphics Card Guru's Read!!!
All the temps shown are Celcius, that's what the 'C' stands for.
14C above ambient is not at all bad, but I'm assuming that you haven't been working the card all that hard when you took that shot.
As clocker says, the ambient temp is way too high. When you start making the card do some serious work it is going to pump out a lot of heat. If you haven't done something about it that means your ambient temp is going to rise which in turn affects your processor and hard drive, not a good situation.
You must have bought one of the "Golden Sample" cards, which is why they've already overclocked it for you, but I've no doubt there is still room for improvement if you really want to.
Re: Graphics Card Guru's Read!!!
So what do you guys think I should to to get these temps lower? It seems from the past few days to stay in 50's with farcry on 1024x768 full settings
Re: Graphics Card Guru's Read!!!
I have two case fans actually on the side of my case, are they better running air into and having it extracted via my PSU 120mm fan or the fans extracting as well?
Im running a slightly OC'ed 256 9800xt with loads of other shit in there (like an audigy card and crap that just loves to give off heat)
Although I am getting average 44C CPU but 38C ambient :S
Re: Graphics Card Guru's Read!!!
Try it both ways and see which one works the best.

Makes you wonder even more, the fuck are these people doing with a computer,Cave man instincts must not be working. To add to the thread,as far as Nvidia is concerned they tend to run higher in temp then ATI.Again due to this being a high end im not surprised the temps are where they are at,then again BFG does overclock their cards.Perhaps once the card is worked a new question may arise.Tell then adieu
