Building a new pc!
I'm bulding a new pc for someone who wants an amd system for photo and maybe movie editing. She won't be replacing it anytime soon. This is what I have:
MSI K8N NEO4-F nForce4
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
Corsair VS2GBKIT400C3 2GB Kit
Asus EN7600GS Silent/HTD GeForce 7600 GS
Enermax ELT500AWT Liberty 500W Power Supply
NEC AD-7170A 18X Double Layer DVD±RW
Coolermaster CAC-T05-UB Centurion 5 Mid Tower Case
She wants a budget pc and I'm not sure if this is overkill for movie editing.
any suggestons?

Re: Building a new pc!
I've heard that there are PIF spike issues with that new NEC burner.
Check out the LG GSA-H22N.

Re: Building a new pc!
The dual core is a good choice for video editing, also a graphics card with dual output. Harddrive space is also a very big issue. I say aim for 500GB+ worth depending on her seriousness when it comes to post-production.

Re: Building a new pc!
thanks vb i wasn't aware of the pif issues (pif???), but google confirms what you said, not that i've ever thought that i needed to confirm your opinion.:) i think i have an extra ide cable for that drive.
An extra hard drive is something she can just add later so i won't do anything with that yet.
i kinda wanted to build a core 2 duo system, but she wants amd, this processor looks good, and a core 2 would cost more anyway. I guess i'm kind of attached to amd anyway heh. :P
