Downloading, Extracting, Burning Question
Noob question I know........but I am trying to download, extract, watch and burn my first (aaaaaaa, yes sadly I am virginal).
I downloaded a whole bunch of rar files from usenet and extracted them to a 4+ gig file. Let's call it movie.img.
I renamed this to movie.iso. So far so good, I think.
I opened/looked at this with isobuster.
I have AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS files listed. However there is nothing listed in the AUDIO_TS, however there are files in the VIDEO_TS.
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VIDEO_TS.VOB
VTS_1_0.BUP
VTS_1_0.IFO
VTS_1_0.VOB
VTS_1_1.VOB large 1+ gig file
VTS_1_2.VOB large 1+ gig file
VTS_1_3.VOB large 1+ gig file
VTS_1_4.VOB large 1+ gig file
VTS_1_5.VOB large 300+ mg file
Is that it? Are there not Audio files? What do I do at this point? Did I screw up? Did I not download/extract correctly? Can I watch the video on my computer? Do I have to burn it to a DVD?
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks. :stars: :stars: :stars:

Re: Downloading, Extracting, Burning Question
You have to burn the image to DVD.
Those files are for DVD video content.

Re: Downloading, Extracting, Burning Question
The image is good. I never seen a DVD with files inside the AUDIO_TS.
You could use nero and it had an option to burn those files to a DVD or any other burner. I think you could burn it as data but not 100% sure. Maybe someone could back me up.

Re: Downloading, Extracting, Burning Question
What is throwing me off, is that the AUDIO_TS is empty. I loaded it using Daemon (interesting utility!), and the damm thing actually played!

Re: Downloading, Extracting, Burning Question
Didn't you read my post. I have yet to see a DVD with the AUDIO_TS folder with anything in it. And those are from real DVD's. Don't be worried. Nothing supposto be in it.

Re: Downloading, Extracting, Burning Question
I did read your post. And I especially thank you for your post!
My post was acknowledging the fact that what originally threw me off, was that the AUDIO_TS was empty. When I saw your post, I knew there was nothing to worry about.
So it seems all I have to do is burn the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS files to a DVD. Not sure why the AUDIO_TS needs to be burned, since it is empty, but I presume there is a reason!?
So, when I have the time, probably tomorrow, I am gonna burn the above 2 directories to a blank DVD, and pop it into my DVD player, and hope that it works!
I am sooooooo very excited that I am about to pop my cherry!

Re: Downloading, Extracting, Burning Question
Yup. AUDIO_TS is usually empty.
You don't need to extract the files to burn them.
Just use "burn image" function.

Re: Downloading, Extracting, Burning Question
yea if its extracted you could burn it as data. if its an iso burn it with like an image burner

Re: Downloading, Extracting, Burning Question
When the DVD gets burned, does the empty AUDIO_TS get burned as well? Is it necessary to get burned? Thanks.

The empty AUDIO_TS folder will be on the DVD after you burn from the image.
Don't worry about it. Just burn it already.

Re: Downloading, Extracting, Burning Question
easiest thing to do is get nero...use the burning rom select dvd -> dvd movie or something like that. there is one that you can just drop the files in and it formats the dvd for you. there should be nothing in the audio section..its always empty . add the files the the video folder click burn and you're done. ;)

Re: Downloading, Extracting, Burning Question
Another question, somewhat related.
Are commercial DVD's written in -R or +R ?? I think I remember that my car DVD said something that it plays DVD -R (I don't think it said it would play +R).
Is this common. Is -R the "preferred" type of image to burn? I have DVD -R and DVD +R burners to use.
Thanks.
