the workgroups are password-protected, or the files?
the workgroup was pass-protected. it prompted for a username/pass when i tried to open it.
in that case, the workgroup itself is probably not password protected...but rather, it is 'private' and only allows connections by selected users/computers.
Because you are trying to access a protected resource from an a computer or user account that is not a member of the workgroup, you're given the opportunity to authenticate as a user with access rights.
ok. well is there another way to keep people not in our workgroup from viewing/copying our files?
thanks for the help/info sparsley. :)
go to the sharing permissions of your workgroups folders
nothing really there about password protection.... :ermm:
add only users you want to be allowed into your workgroup as members with full access(allowed to read and write to your folders) and block everyone else off
