kmplayer is faster then vlc i tested it on flow pcs for mkv and mp4 encodes and it have tones of options and new version is now support 3d functions also
I use Km Player it runs almost all files.
And much lighter for PC...

Good question. Im actually on the lookout for a replacment for WM11 Although it does its job. Maybe a more sophisticated media player las ahead in time, maybe one already exist and Idoleyes will die tomorrow. Point is, We just dont know.
I occasionally use Zoomplayer to check on some movie/Tv-ep but I never watch anything on my PC-screen.

lately Im using potplayer and is pretty good.
I switch between winamp and foobar for music and use VLC for video
foobar2000 for music and vlc for videos.

Windows media player seems to play everything I want ( make sure codec pack is installed ) The only thing that seems to be an issue is MKV files, however it is very quick and easy to convert an MKV to avi or Mp4.
