I've got a 20 gb HDD that I was thinking of connecting to my pc and putting all my music on it. Is this something that a hardware NOOB such as myself can do?
If not, what else can I do with it? :shifty:

Sure you can.
- Check the back of the drive and look for a tiny jumper. Follow the diagram and set it as Slave.
- Turn off the computer and open the case. Mount the drive near the existing drive. The wide IDE cable that your current drive is connected to has second connector on it. Connect that to the slave.
- Connect power to the drive (There should be a spare Molex connector available.)
- Close the case and power on. Check in the BIOS that it's detected. If so then bootup to windows.
- In Windows: Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Disk Management. Here you can partition and format the drive.
Paperweight, doorstop, tireblock, anchor, fishing lure :whistling
Or you can buy a external case and make it a backup device
donate it to me.
or just do what VB1234 says.
Or as zapjb always says clone your system and put it away in a drawer for safe keeping . I would use it for music as you said . Easy to set up as VB pointed out too . :)
