my older computer had it's mobo burn and i turned it off immediatly after i smelled it. I was wondering if the CPU chip inside it still works.
The mobo burned a few seconds after i turned the computer on so it wasnt off too long.
The chip doesnt seem to have any burn marks or anything like that on it.
It's an althon 1.2ghz thunderbird cpu

ah ok, i'll save it for the computer shop. My sister has a 800mhz and wants the faster chip on her's instead (the mobo on her's said it supports up to 1.6ghz)

I always though you could fry a chip and it would still work but at a lesser capacity.
