Use 802.11g. Very inexpensive.
ive got a belkin router, with a card(upstairs) and toshiba satelite laptop. But I've got DSL. :ermm:
So do i need a Router or a gateway whats difference and does the router or gateway go straight into main pc
You need to look for a router, I sugest getting Wireless-G (802.11g) AP like this one. :) (does not to be that fancy)
Coax from wall goes to cable modemQuote:

I had forgoten that it comes with movies aswell, pretty funny but hey use what you need . :)
Ah right so i have my cable from wall to modem then my cable to router then cable to main pc now dopes that pc need wireless or just others that i want to be on the network
It is easiest to set up your wireless router with a wired connection. Once you've set it up, if your main pc is static and within easy reach then you may as well continue to use a wired connection.
Otherwise you can set your main pc to use a wireless connection instead if you wish, it is entirely up to you. You may find things get a little confusing if you try to use both at the same time on the same pc though, not recommended.
Well he has a static pc that wont go away from cable point its just his laptop he wants wireless
EDIT:
Well i have found what i think i need and its the Linksys WRT54G Router and the Linksys WPC546 PCMCIA for the laptop. Is this all need to do this i have the modem to connect to router.
Wall > Cable Modem > Router > PC (Wired)
Laptop (Wireless from the router hooked up to pc)
Is that correct
EDIT2:I use ADSL so cable stuff very different to me but i understand now as u need a cable modem to use the router unlike ADSL Wireless routers that plug atraight into wall cable ones need a cable modem first i will order this stuff and see how to Cable NTL ISP wireless goes :)
