Ad-Aware brings up Windows?
I just formated and reinstalled XP SP2 last night and did an Ad Aware scan today. One of the objects that came up was:
Windows - RegData - Vulnerability - HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT:regfile\shell\open...
What should I do with this? Set it to "Ignore"...Or remove it? I somehow don't think the latter is a good idea.
I dont remember it coming up before I formatted, but I have just installed SP2 and no other updates and security fixes.
Re: Ad-Aware brings up Windows?
Are you using someone else's slipstreamed xp service pack 2? or one that is M$'s retail xp sp2?
Re: Ad-Aware brings up Windows?
Updated from MS site.
I found this on the AdAware forum:
"According to the log that was posted, Ad-Aware has discovered a missing string value within the registry. Where the string should have contained the value "regedit.exe" "%1", it was actually blank. However, Ad-Aware recognised this and replaced the missing value.
Nothing to worry about here - in fact, what was identified as a general windows security issue has been resolved by the scan that was carried out!"
It's still being displayed when I do a scan though, oh well...I put it on the ignore list.

Update XP fully. Then scan.
