Hi,
I have an Oasis DVD concert that I wish to extract the audio file from to use with my guitar program. Can you please tell me what program to use and any tips on using it. I am not bothered if I end up with one large wav file as I can use something else to cut it into tracks. It's just the initial extracting of the wav file I am stuck with.
Thanks
Alan

I dunno except maybe post the question in the Movieworld also, those guys know
a lot of about ripping DVD's.
Check out the pinned topics in different worlds also.

I have to say this is the best, most polite, straight to the point post by a "n00b" I have seen on this forum.
I'm also wanting to get just the audio from some DVDs I have. havent even looked into this yet, so thanks for asking a very good question alanbee

The most obvious way to do it is to use an audiocable between a external DVD-player to the computer, then record the audio into *.wav-files using Wavelab
I've used this method extracting from VHS before, but it takes some time 'cause first you'll have to record it, then you'll have to divide it into tracks and finally make the mp3's

 I'm sure there is a better method

Mate tri dvd decrypter.Once the dvds loaded, right click or choose stream processing, select the stream, say, 6ch,then demux. It'll rip the actualy 6ch dolby digital track then to an ac3 file.
Where am i ? .....its seem strange in here

You can use SmartRipper to "demux to extra file." Just open smartripper with your DVD in the drive, then click on the "stream processing tab," then click on "demux to extra file," and then click on the track you want and then click on start. The ripped audio will have a *.ac3 file extension, which should play in WMP if you have the codecs installed. You can then convert it to MP3 or wav with virtualdub.

1)dvddecrypter to rip the data to disk.
2)dvd2avi OR vstrip to rip the ac3 layer (or dts, or lpcm)
3)besweet for transcoding (ac3 --> wav ---> mp3 or whatever else you want)
guaranteed to work!
