First, try clicking Start and Run, type sfc /scannow and hitting the return key.
Feed your XP CD when prompted, wait a while, then see if it's sorted.
well I tried that it I don't think it worked...once I put the cd in, the install screen appears...should I select reinstall (upgrade) windows option? Or would it be better if I just reformatted my hard drive and did a clean install of windows. The window cd I have, I think its an oem version. The only problem with formating is I've never done it before.
