duron sucks, athlon is WAY better believe me
duron is cheaper and more rubbish than an athlon
just like pentium 4 is alot better than celeron
yep, the amd duron's are basically a cut-down version of the amd athlon processors. basically the only real difference is the lower cached on the cpu for the duron's
exactly the same with the intel pentium's and celeron's, just as Nottingham_Forest_Football_Club said.
if you're looking for something cheap for a basic computer, than go for the duron, if you want some more speed, go with the athlon
Also, the Athlon processor might have a 266 Mhz FSB while the Duron only has a 200 Mhz FSB.
So even if both are 1 Ghz or faster, the newer Athlons at that speed have a HUGE edge over the same-speed Duron... on top of having a larger Level-2 Cache.
the Amd Athlon 1000MHz cpu only has a 200MHz fsb, as does this duron, so in this case there isn't a difference in the fsb.Quote:

from the 1.3GHz athlon's (i think), up to the athlon 2400+, the fsb is 266MHz.
from the 2500+ upwards, currently the fsb is 333MHz
true the new barton athlons own
the thoroughbred B core is still a very good cpu
the 2700+ Thoroughbred B beats the 2500+ Barton, for example
