rmvb is much worse than xvid and divx, but if youre not too demanding it is possible to enjoy rmvb movies:)
The opinions about quality of rmvb movies are very different... I would simply advice to download a rmvb file to see for yourself.
BTW - here are some screenshots from a movie in rmvb format:

It acctually all depends who/how they encode them to RMVB.
I used to do them in RMVB for a while and if you set the bitrates correctly ect... you wouldnt even really be able to tell the differance.
That's true Melvinmeow. :) When I had an limited internet connection I downloaded pretty much rmvb movies. Some had quality much worse than xvid movies but on the other hand many were practically identical to the xvid they were ripped from.
of course divx/xvid are better but rmvb is not that bad. its really good too.. especially people who have slow connections could prefer that format
if you encode a movie from avi to rmvb you have the choice of quality 100% , 90% or 80% ...
but in particular rmvb has about 30% of xvid size and 80% of its quality ...
