Do you mean actually buying a server or renting space on a server?
or setting up one at home.

Apache is a HTTP server it serve's files nothing more. YOu cannot deisgn a site in it, if thats what your asking. you'll need Frontpage or Dreamweaver or some other Web Design Package.
Things you'll need for a server.
http://www.apache.org - Will be your web server. It will serve HTTP files.
http://www.php.net - PHP Server if you want PHP scripts to be run. For instance this forum use's PHP
http://dev.mysql.com/ - MySQL server for SQL Database's. Again forums need MySQL normally.
All 3 websites have all the info you need to get them running. Dont let people fool you into using a Combined version of all 3. Ok its easier but you wont learn how to set them up properly.
They are not hard to set up anyway ;)
If you need any help just ask, but read the FAQ's and Documentation with them and you'll pick them up.
or you could just rent a dedicated server, faster, cheaper and mmhh well that's it ;)
Try Abyss, it is more smaller and easier ;) aprelium.com. ;)Quote:
but apache +php +mysql are a great combination ;)
