Do I just open the option on mIRC, then "Select Server", and put in, say, #TheDVDClub?
Or do I have to join a particular server, and then join a channel?

Just change them to match the server, and some sites might have security measures like SCC got invite only bot which you access from the site and BCG got IRC passwords.Code:/server irc.thedvdclub.net
