i was just wondering cos when you talk to someone on messenger it always goes something like
p1:hello
p2:hey lol
p2:done owt today?
p1:nope, lol
p1:you?
p2:went shopping lol
p1:get owt, lol
p2:nope lol
p1:lol
p2:lol
etc. etc..
all the while no-one actually laughed, its silly but i still say lol at it so when something funny happens you have to use lmao instead. then it seems funnier than it is. maybe we need a girlish giggle or something but that'd confuse good game  . is this just me or does anyone else think we say lol too much

I think people use way too many smilies.

I whole heartedly agree with the observation that there is excessive loling.
It takes away the effect so that a lol is not really a lol anymore.
I tend to only lol when I really lol.
I can never remember loling mao, so I am unlikely to post that I have done.
Good point well made dave.

we need different things. id have to say lol cos bo's sig made me go kpffrr, but i certainly didnt laugh out loud
-
kpffrr? is that the same as fnar fnar? :D

its like the noise you make when you laugh with tea in your mouth, except without tea. so its like the beggining of a laugh
-
i would only half laff like a hehe minus the he one the end ( he) cept a little more normal sounding
