Re: video card hot as hell
Why start a new thread? You could have use your existing one.
Maybe you card is damaged? Maybe the heatsink needs to be reset?

I opened case and checked, and the video card seems fine: the heatsink looks good, and the fan's blowing hard too. Maybe ATItools is inaccurate? Is there some other program that lets me see the temp of my card?
Re: video card hot as hell
What I meant is that perhaps the heat isn't being properly transfered to the heatsink.
Re: video card hot as hell
Everest will detect the temps of a nVidia card...might do the same with a sensored ATI too.

Did you try and touch the heat sink? And if so, did it feel hot?
Re: video card hot as hell
The standard core slowdown temp on my Nvidia 6600GT is 127C. I think it is unlikely that standard Ati core temps are much different.
Core temps on graphics cards are much higher than processor or motherboard temps. 87C after 2 hours of Q4 doesn't sound unreasonable.

How does that happen? I haven't moved my card at all.
And sadly, Everest doesnt show my GPU temp.

Yes, the heatsink is indeed burning hot.

I don't know about Nvidia cards, but for my the X800 series ATI cards, 90C is supposed to be the danger zone for overheating.
O well, I won't care much for it anymore. Hope it overheats and burn in hell so I have an excuse to get a 1900XTX:P

I'm sure that doesn't sound very good to people who are having a hard time trying to afford such new parts.
