Is it possible to update my stolen copy of Windows?
I have this version of Windows which I stole on the Internets:
Microsoft.Windows.XP.Professional.Corporate.SP2.Integrated.October.2006.MULTI.IMAGE-ETH0
Which means I haven't done any updates in over 2 years. I tried running Windows updates just to see if I could choose everything but the Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) updates, but I can't get any updates without first running the WGA tool that is prompted.
Sooo... is there a way to update? I keep thinking "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." but I'd like to get my system up to date with SP3.
Re: Is it possible to update my stolen copy of Windows?
You could try a program that replaces the key, like JellyBean or use microcrap to change your key . Very easy tho and passes WGA .
Made me think Etho is very good and probably uses a student key , have you tried to update ?
Update let WGA run then just disable next time .Sorry buddie I just reread and easy to correct .
Re: Is it possible to update my stolen copy of Windows?
I found this but I don't see how it could help - http://magicaljellybean.com/
I'm just going by the product description is all -
The Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder is a freeware open source utility that retrieves your Product Key (cd key) used to install Windows from your registry. It allows you to print or save your keys for safekeeping.
I can't find this Microcrap thing.

Re: Is it possible to update my stolen copy of Windows?
Thanks for that.
The Windiz option appears to be the best option but the project also appears to be abandoned and the plugin won't install. My guess is that the problem isn't on my end, it's that they haven't ported it over for FF3.
CT Update seems good enough, but it uses phrases like "fully update" and "completely update" Windows. I can't take the chance that that include the WGA updates as well.
Windows Updates Downloader isn't worth trying since there is no up to date file for SP3.
I'll keep looking though as I'm now confident there will be other solutions.
AutoPatcher looked like another potential solution but it doesn't install service packs. :dabs:
Not sure what else to do.
Re: Is it possible to update my stolen copy of Windows?
1. go to windows update site and do the possible installs.
2. when you can't do any more updates cuz it says you haven't an original key, download this http://rapidshare.com/files/12986174..._Advantage.rar
3. ignore virus reports that some AV do (really, it's genuine)
4. patch your windows
5. reboot
6. go to update center and update your windows ass up.
7. yes, your windows is now "original"
Re: Is it possible to update my stolen copy of Windows?
I can't do any at all as I said before.
The very first thing it wants to do before letting me view, download, or install any updates is to download and run a WGA "update".
Re: Is it possible to update my stolen copy of Windows?
that's what you must do.
it's my 1.
then replace it with my 2. and you're done !
trust me, nothing will go wrong.

I'm not going to download and run a WGA program on a cracked version of Windows, nor am I going to ignore virus warnings and install those "updates" as well.
Re: Is it possible to update my stolen copy of Windows?
well, your problem then. :idunno: good luck finding another working solution, cuz there isn't.
i've done dozens of such installs. including windows 2k3 server which uses the same WGA authentication method.
