how come partial downloads on kazaa show up as dats ,yet the same partially downloaded files on soulseek show up as incompete.
the latter meaning that u can listen to music files which havent completed downloading.
would it be possible for this to be included in an improved version of kazaa?
Probably because of the way th eprogram downloads.
On Soulseek, your downloading off 1 person, so the bits of the file are taken sequentially....in essence you can play what you have.
Fastrack is multisource, and the bits are not necessarily downloaded in the correct order.
right i gotcha, but even when i download the whole file from 1 user it still shows as a dat!
But in theory it's still looking for other sources throughout the download, so is getting "chunks" of the file at a time....if another source is found then that would get the next "chunk"...leaving gaps in the sequence.
