I still use v1.6 & 1.6.1 on TL and had no issues with it or the site.

I would greatly recommend the v1.6.1, as that is the latest one, before uTorrent changed ownership - I mean before BitTorrent bought it. All the secrets around utorrent.com domain is a very big red flag. I mean - come on. bittorrent.com domain looks that way:
...but with utorrent.com domain the owner is hidden behind DomainByProxy.com:Quote:

So we can only speculate why BitTorrent Inc. (or someone else?) is hidding there. People that prefer to hide are suspicious in the first place.Quote:

Regardless, I made a little test. I upgraded to the much bigger (?!) uTorrent v1.7.5, check the prefs and let the download run for like a hour or so. Then I stop it, removed it and in 2 min fired up and completely re-set the prefs to be the same, but fresh - the uTorrent v1.6.1. I immediatelly got like 2x faster DL speed.
It could be fluke, in the P2P world is nothing certain, but my suspiction rise badly. Remember, the v1.7.5 got already hour or so to establish connections and stuff, while the v1.6.1 run on fresh start and it run much faster. After a while I get 3x faster DL speed that with what I get with 1.7.5 steady for like a hour before.
All that in just under 10 min.
Hence I never ever upgrade uTorrent v1.6.1 to anything else and I would recommend that to all others, but...
Of course, anyone can do what the hell they please ;) I, for myself, do not trust people that are hidding and then talking about supporting community and P2P. Nah. Too risky for my taste.
But feel free to take the chances ;)
so wer can i down the 1.6.1 (490) ??
http://filehippo.com/download_utorrent/?2253 here ya go, its got all of the old versions of utorrent aswell ;)
yeah i stayed with 1.6.1 and i don t have any need to upgrade for now
I liked 1.6.1 I never did upgrade though because of a site I used didn't like it. So I just stuck with the old one.
