I'm pretty sure he's referring to a receiver, not a separate power amp.

Your question was pedantic, I thought it was another joke regarding slightly incorrect terms, in this case bo called his receiver an amp which is a throwback to the days when you had a separate amplifier for your stereo instead of an integrated receiver.

I've got a room with separates for the surround sound processor and 4 individual amps for the 7 channels. I have to admit the newer amps that are now designed to run all of the channels in DD/DTS are can be quite capable of doing the job. The prices are amazingly reasonable for what you get. Mid-line or better Onkyo is eerily good for the money...
All-in-one is VASTLY more user-friendly, too.
Re: Last one to post wins the internets
I can't get my pc to output anything other than stereo. I've got a gtx 465 which is supposed to do 5.1 through hdmi (according to google) but windows (7 x64) isn't recognising my receiver and seems to think the hdmi cable is plugged straight into the tv (hence it only allowing stereo).
Any suggestions?

I forgot that I do shit like that, but this one happened to be a genuine puzzler. I have never owned a home theater receiver in my life, thus I would have never associated the two terms.

Been watching the new iPad unveiling. Looking pretty awesome.
2048 x 1536 "Retina" screen. 3.1 million pixels on a 10" screen.
A5X processor, quad-core graphics.
5-megapixel camera on the back which has 1080p recording capabilities.
Siri.
4G LTE! :O
No price increase.

Start a hardware thread? I'm ignorant when it comes to this sound related stuff.

Except that it's still running iOS.
