I have no recommendations, I just wanted to congratulate you on learning that Bose is crap. BTW, if you don't know what an audiophile is, don't worry about it. Being an audiophile is detrimental to both your wallet and your satisfaction.

    words of experienced man ..
Go for JBL man .. I have those Dome Shaped speaker system and they are pretty good ..
The type of the speakers depend on the music you want to listen to .. Do u want it bassy or with good mid riffs ..
I would tell you to go to headfi and chk out ..
But do it at your own risk cuz u mite find urself devoid of any funds to do other things in life

logitech z-2300 and a charging dock in combination will beat any ipod dock handsdown anyday of the weak, and will be easier on your wallet, but it isn't exactly esthetically pleasing. I don't look at looks, just horsepower. Thats just the type of person i am.

Recommendations for something as subjective as audio preference are pointless.

If you want to get the dock that you like the sound of best, the only way to go about it is to listen to your favourite tracks on each and compare.
Be aware that when you listen to a system in a room full of other speakers you won't get a true impression of the sound since all the others vibrate 'in sympathy' and make them sound better.
Furniture also makes a difference; in a room with heavy carpets, curtains and furniture, the overall sound will differ to a room with light furnishings.

Personally, I think docking stations are a pointless expense if you have a good hi-fi or computer sound system.
