Its funny I are think I'm so smart when it comes to computers , hav'nt tried that one yet . I d/l 'd Eset smart security just to test but have yet to try . I 'd just run a scan before bed and check the log in the morning . The computer log not the other one .

Can't you just set a scan for a certain time ?

I think people are missing the point , I'm not talking about real time scanning but a full scan . So do it when your off the computer and who gives a rats ass how long it takes ?

I don't sit in front of my computer to see a Virus scan run , I'v other things to do . Set your programs to run @ 5:00 am on a Sunday morning and leave it . Problem solved !

    My last Kaspersky scan:
    Scan My Computer
    ----------------
    Scanned: 1420511
    Detected: 0
    Untreated: 0
    Start time: 08/10/2007 02:00:04
    Duration: 04:28:40
    Finish time: 08/10/2007 06:28:44
Mind you, I have changed the default settings to include scanning within all archives & emails. I don't think that's too bad for nearly 1½million files.

    Edit:
That file that Kaspersky produced when I saved the scan log lists every file on the computer and is a 208MB text file

on nod32 if you do a deep scan on a 160gb drive it will approx 5 hours ! it depends what you have on the hard drive ! nod 32 uses different technologies to AVG ! like i said it depends on the amount of files and various other parameters !

You're right! I find Kaspersky scans quickest when it's first installed, right after Windows! Having lots of archives will increase scan time!
Why do you end each sentence with an exclamation mark, though!?

I clean my computer of crap files using Ccleaner and Tune up 2007 ( Regcleaner) then defrag before I run a scan . That might speed up the process ?

Dont worry too much about how much time it takes to do a full scan, its not has if you be doing it daily. I do mine on the weekend with nod32 and it takes a few hours. As mentioned it would be a good thing to clean your system before you scan as that will help a bit.
