    I've been using Pidgin for a while now and I have no complaints. Just make sure you turn on the option to only receive messages from people on your list on the MSN network or you will get spam all day long.

    I like Miranda.

    It can run all of the major IMs:

    * AIM (AOL Instant Messenger)
    * Gadu-Gadu
    * IAX (Inter-Asterisk Exchange)
    * ICQ
    * IRC (Internet Relay Chat)
    * Jabber
    * MSN
    * Netsend
    * Tlen
    * Yahoo
    * And more...

    It is highly customizable as well.

    I use the Sidebar skin but there are loads of others.

    So I read in post #2. It was more of an informative post than a one-up.

    Hmmm fair enough

    KMess

    KMess is a Windows Live Messenger alternative chat client for Linux. It allows its users to chat with friends over the .NET Messenger Service, as it is used by Windows Live Messenger or Microsoft Messenger for Mac. The strength of KMess is its integration within the K desktop environment, its focus on Windows Live Messenger specific features and an easy-to-use interface.

    Like many Linux and KDE applications, KMess is free software and licensed under the GPL.
