I recently made a complete switch to ubuntu and have been using hellanzb with the Myhella GUI but it is buggy and locks up my machine with 100% cpu usage at times and the cap download speed never works. I was curious as to what others would recommend for a good linux newsreader, preferably one with a GUI frontend?

I use NNTPGrab because it's simple nzb downloader but it's powerful and doesn't use a lot of memory. If you're looking for a reader that does binary downloads and browses newsgroups I'd try Pan but it's NZB downloading feature is not very well integrated in the GUI and it's a bit of a memory hog.

Thank you for the recommendations. I will give NNTPGrab a shot, I have dabbled with Pan and like ya say it really is only good for headers.

    EDIT
Is there an easy way to install this on Ubuntu? I have tried everything known to man to get NNTPGrab to install to no avail. I compiled the source and filled the dependencies but I am stuck at Glade 2.0. (libglade2-devel) Everytime I go to configure I get an error that says Glade is not installed but it is. Am I missing something? There is not much info on the ubuntu forums about NNTPGrab. I have also searched high and low on google about it and still not much.

I have tried altbinz under WINE and Crossover Pro and have similar results to hellanzb+myhella. Either way though thank you for the tip.
