How do SATAs work, cuz im just startin up my new comp right now and i dont know if i hooked up the hard drive correctly. Its a seagate barricuda 160 gig sata hd. Do i need any drivers or anything??

the comp detects the drive(i think), but i need to know how to set it up in bios
What motherboard?
Does the drive show up in Computer Management and has it been formatted yet?

do we use the red or the yellow cable? I'm connecting it throught the red cable but it finds the device but saids it not valid, saids 147gb

A SATA data cable is a SATA data cable irregardless of the color.
Right click on My Computer and select "manage".
In the window that appears select your new SATA drive and format it...Windows cannot "see" the drive until you do this.
147GB is right...the discrepancy is due to the way that manufacturers describe the size as opposed to the way Windows does.

we cant install windows because it does not recognize a hard drive
we are using a brand new hard drive there is no other hard drives installed

lol yea lol u need a floppy only problem my friend has a notebook without a floppy device =/ and im no where near my house lol i brought over my floppy drive to install xp but we cant create a nice driver
