    here http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=78934

examples can be found here -
    http://www.global-army.com/forum/awards.php
    http://www.global-army.com/forum/member.php?u=22#award

awards can be for anything - contribution in each field, helpfullness, whatever..
could be interesting even though Im not so into who is the most popular

Provided it's the members who vote for each other and not some arbitrary scheme where only an elite few can vote, like with forum contributors - I'm for it.

I dont think that such mod will 'improve' this website.

This is the same as the standard vB reputation thingy.

we already have stars to show someones 'status'

I think it should be a law to have the "don't care" option.

I just love it when people go to the bother of registering their apathy.

On topic - why not, as long as it's a bit of fun what harm can it do. However only if the "awards" are of the jocular type and not just people getting up their own arse.

I think there should be an award for "The most gratuitous use of the word "fuck" in a serious screenplay", who can guess "sans google" who that is quoted from. (For manker "from whom that is quoted")

No, because members will jsut like to abuse it.

Another idea liek that one is the 'thank you' hack... when someone posts something helpful, you press the thank you button next to the post and it adds a point to the thank you count.

Person at end of week or month or whatever with most points could get some special priveleges.

That one might encourage people to post helpful things but again it would just be abused.

So what if members do abuse it.

If it's a good laugh, then it doesn't matter.

I can't think of any compelling reasons for or against the specific idea, but whence comes this urge to clutter up a perfectly good board with meaningless goo?

Buy any well-outfitted car, then start a lottery on which extraneous bit fails first...

We should eschew such silliness as a matter of course.
