    If we can have verifieds, ed2k and nbz files is there any reason we can't have torrent files.

    Is this because of technical, legal or policy issues. Or perhaps something else.

    Yes legal issue, torrent sites are watched more closely than others as they're most popular, afaik.

    Reality can tell you more.

    Technically, posting a torrent is legal, hosting torrents or hosting a tracker is where the line becomes grey.

    Posting links to torrents that people have hosting themselfs or on a free host would be completely fine in the eyes of teh law.

    This is providing the server is US. based.

    Thanks chaps, I can understand the logic.

    However we did have verifieds when Kazaa was by far the most popular system. Are we simply being more circumspect now (which I think is a good thing) in order to avoid legal problems.

    The fact that torrents contain info to the tracker may be the issue.
    Although yet to be challanged on that alone that I know of...
