If you have a PC, get a video capture card. Should cost less than $50 US.
It will probably come with software or get it off of Kazaa.
Or get a USB video grabber. Tiger Direct carries them.

You will need additional hardware like the examples that I previously posted.

I use an old ATI TV Wonder video capture card.

It is cheap and best of all, it will capture a video as an MPG! Why is that good, well other cards may let you capture only in the AVI format, which can suck up gigabytes of space! MPEGs will give you 90% compression.

With that card, you can make MPGs that are ready for VCD burning! Oh, you can select AVI if you want. That is good for non-compressed video, which is great for editing. Then you can save the edited video as an MPEG.

Then ATI TV WONDER can do all the work of compression, so you don't need a super computer to use it. Shop around, I am sure there are better cards that will do the same job for the same price today.

There is a draw-back with that card, It only supports WDM, not VFW. That means you cannot use it as a webcam (with a camcorder) on some programs, like Yahoo or AOL instant messengers. I have over come that problem with mine, by installing the logitech webcam drivers. Something about those drivers make the TV Wonder work as a VFW capture card.
