don't know if you remember but i posted a while back on a question about PCI-Express (my cousin's comp). Anyway, 5200 just doesnt cut it, and he's not gonna be upgrading any time soon, so for now he wants to buy a PCI vid card (the hp mobo doesnt even have agp ffs). i dont know a whole lot about PCI cards, so which card is the best (better than geforce fx5200) PCI out there? and if you have a link pls post. I'm trying to talk him out of just getting a new mobo w/ that money so that at least it has an agp or even a PCI-Express slot, but he insists on not having to buy a mobo wait a few months to save up money then buy another vid card. So, any suggestions (about what the current best or atleast better [much better] than the fx5200 PCI card is)? Thanks in advance.

A 7800GTX would do him good. How much money does he have?

He's looking for PCI. Not PCI Express.

There isn't much point in getting a faster card when the PCI bus is the limiting factor.

He's better off replacing the mobo.

Well, if your friend insists on being a knucklehead there is always the FX5500, but after that he's done.

It is silly and ultimately futile to keep beating dead parrots.

If you hadn't nailed 'im to the perch 'e'd be pushing up the daisies! 'Is metabolic processes are now 'istory! 'E's off the twig! 'E's kicked the bucket, 'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!! THIS IS AN EX-PARROT!! "

    Your friend...not so much.

I know, I know PCI card... He should maybe buy a new mobo too because PCI cards are useless now.

Read original post, I"m still trying to convince him (ultimately its his money, not mine) to get a new mobo (preferabbly with a PCI Express slot instead of agp) and save up for a nice vid card. But ya, he's stubborn. So fx5500, is it the only good PCI card around (better than 5200)?

Yeah it's better but not worth the price for the upgrade.

Ya I know, thanks for your help guys . I'm still trying to get him to just get a new mobo and go on from there.
