Yes, but Mexico is definitely the place to if you've murdered someone. They don't believe in the death penalty I guess, b/c they will not extradite anyone who could face the death penalty for the crime they've committed in their own country.

I don't think "there's always an option in the back of your head" because most people don't contemplate committing crimes that would force them to flee the country. On the other hand, should some wild, unthinkable circumstance arise where I was framed or wrongly accused of some heinous crime, then yes, Mexico would be the option for me. I'm only about 4 - 4.5 hours away.

If this were true, why do over 3 million people a year leave.

And I don't think this could be true about a country where justice in the court system for the common man can be bought.

Have you ever read anything about a town named Nuevo Laredo? Yea, pure paradise I tell you. One sheriff managed to stay alive on the job for a whole 3 hours.

mmmm....good ol Nuevo Laredo. Been there a few times. Even saw the donkey show once when I was about 19. That is one crazy ass city.

I'd wear out my keyboard trying to tell all the stories and experiences from there.
