I just got a nice letter from british telecom informing me that i have exceded their max usage allowance for the past 2 months. i usually get 50 gigs a month but in sept i used 144GB and in october i used 133GB.

they have given me 2 options

    1) pay the excess charge of £1 a gig which comes to £177 which wont include what i have used this month.
2)cease my contract with bt and change isp's and they will not charge me.

I congratulate you bt on your excellent business strategy of forcing your customers to use another service.

just thuought i would warn anyone else here using bt to expect a letter in the post along the same lines as mine.

I'm expeceting a similar thing. The limit is 30 GB a month and I'm already over that for the month. The connection is also split with 4 other users so it'll be way over the limit

It looks like bandwidth limits are the way most ISP's are going as well so it's going to be something to factor in when downloading.
