    I've been shopping around and finally bought all the parts i need for my new comp:

    Motherboard: Asus A8N5X Sok 939/Dual Channel RAM/PCI-E/$119


    CPU: Athlon 64 3200+ Venice/$189


    RAM: OCZ performance series 1GB 2X512mb dual channel/$129


    Video Card: Sapphire Radeon X800GTO 256mb PCI-E/$219


    Hard Drive: Maxtor 250 GB with 16 MB Buffer/$120


    PSU: 400watts/Free from friend


    Case: Shitty $28 bucks



    See anything wrong with this build? I guess I'm happy with it. Should last me couple of years especially with a bit of OCing.

    It doesn't have nearly enough amperage on the 12v rail to run that system properly and could very well trash the board or CPU.

    Yes, I completely agree with what you said but after all, it is a free psu pulled from a friend. I guess I need at least around 25-30 A on the 12V rail if I should OC quite a bit? Could you recommand a cheap psu that's going to do the job? Thx

    Agreed.

    The 12v rail on that PSU has a max output of 12A.
    By contrast, a good dual-rail PSU should provide at least that on each rail. Mine provides a total of 29A, 14A (peak 16A) on one rail, 15A on the other.

    I'd hate to see large parts of your $800 investment go up in smoke.
