help burning file for dvd player playback

i'm trying to burn a file i downloaded (Lost.S02E01.HDTV.XviD_LOL._eztv_.torrent)
on to a dvd to that i can play it back on tv using my dvd player.

i have nero but it doesn't seem to work. do i need to somehow convert the file first? i think it is an avi file. any help or tutorial links would be appreciated.

Being an xvid it probably is an avi, don't burn just one episode to dvd cos it's a waste, download 3 eps and convert them to dvd with a avi-dvd converter.

'normal' DVD players cannot read AVI files.
