I got this Dell laptop and am looking for some oldish games to run. It's a 1.2GHZ PIII with 256MB RAM and a Radeon Mobility 16MB video card. For some reason it looks like the game is running in software rendering mode although the renderer is set to Default OpenGL....The graphics really look shoddy compared to my Desktop PC...Are there any patches or something I can use to fix this?

PS, I'm using the drivers from the Dell support site, should I get newer drivers direct from Radeon, even though Dell isn't listed on their supported notebook list?

I would try it. The worst tha can happen is that the drivers does not work. Don't use the BIOS update thouhg has it won't fit on the "stripped" Dell video card. The drivers from Dell's homepage are often outdated and not the most effective drivers to use on their video cards.

If there are mobility drivers on the ATI page for you card use them.
