do this:
in firefox go to Bookmarks > manage bookmarks > file > export > save to desired location.

The only bad points of upgrading I can think of is that some themes and extensions won't be compatible.

I hav'nt found any yet but I use very few . Its worth it I think ,does seem faster with fasterfox plugin installed .
