MY friend's debating on which one to get and I dont really know what to tell him, Does any1 know which of the two is better? Im leaning towards the 9800 side but I need an expert opinion.

I would say that the 9800pro is better.

The AIW card might heat up more so just make sure there is ventilation.

9600xt sucks ass now. you can only play the latest games like FEAR on low settings. 9600xt is only like 75$ . 6600gt is 150$ <-- good value..

    9800 Pro 9600 XT

    Bus Type AGP 4X,8X AGP 4X, 8X
    Memory Amount (MB) 256 128
    Memory Type DDR2 DDR1
    Memory Interface 256-bit 128-bit
Memory Clock Speed (MHz) 350 300
Engine Clock Speed (MHz) 380 500
    Pipelines 8 4
    Pixel Fillrate 3.04 Gpixels/sec 2.0 Gpixels/sec
Geometry Rate 380 MTriangles 250 MTriangles

The first spec is the 9800 pro and the second is 9600 XT...donno how to insert tables

Anyways, all that equals about a 20-30% performance gain for the 9800 pro over the 9600 XT.

As for the price, the cheapest 9600 XT is around $109 CAD and the cheapest 9800 pro is about $40-50 bucks more expensive...so u decide, after all, u get wut u pay for.

The version he wants to get is a 9800PRO AIT 128mb. I still think it's the way to go.
