Computer really slow

Yesterday, I noticed the PC is running very slow. While playing Fifa06, it was lagging (which it neveer does). Right now, I can't run FF (with 6 tabs), WMP, and Ares. FF froze and I had to 'end task' it. I defragmented this morning too.

what could be the problem?

Sounds like a virus! Scan your pc with your antivirus and spyware remover!

Why don't you prerform a scandisk too! you never know.

I scaned the PC with AVG and it's still slow. 5 mins ago, I couldn't run ares, azureus and Windows Control Panel window.

I've seen defraged computers that were 90% fragmented and everything ran blazing fast afterwards.
