I am building my first computer, and am completely stumped when it comes to video cards. I have budgeted 250 for a video card that will be able to play new games until directx10 comes out (and maybe until Christmas this year). What are some good CHipsets that will allow me to do this? i've been recommended the Nvidia6800GTX and 6800Ultra series. Where can I see benchmarks for these cards?

    What motherboard?

Are you looking for PCI Express or AGP?

    $250 you say?

Get the 7600GT, without a doubt.

    Someone prove me wrong.

I agree. 7600GT has the best specs for that money.
I got a 7800GT for $300. The price went up since then though, so you probably can't find em that cheap anymore. Evga had some weird prices around christmas and I managed to join in on the action. $50 less than it costs now-a days...pretty damn good card. 7600GT is probably 90%+ of the 7800GT.
