Thread: cp_1252.nls error at startup

  1. #1
When I startup my Laptop, I get the following error:

"Windows could not start because the folloing file is missing or corrupt:
    \windows\system32\cp_1252.nls

    ......
    "

I have tried using the Recovery CD that came with my Laptop, and pressed R. But it does not go to the Windows Recovery Console. Instead I get the same error message.

Any idea how I can get rid of this error.

    Kind regards

I can guarantee this is not a hardware problem, so I'll move it to somewhere more appropriate.

try start > run > sfc /scannow - you will need the windows cd (not sure if it will work with a recovery cd).
