When opening a number of software downloads I've made on kazaa and elsewhere that are rar, zip, .exe files, etc, I get the following message:
"Error Starting Program:
The __________ file is linked to missing export KERNEL32.DLL."
Followed by: "A device attached to the system is not functioning."
Not sure if it's related, but the icons from a number of these zips and unopened programs have switched from their unique icon representations to generic white and blue application symbols. What's going on here?

Did u recently add n e hardware?
Do you use an Antivirus (norton reccomended) and Firewall(Zone Alarm)?
Run ScanDisk(Checkdisk in XP, goto Harddrive properties>Tools), Cleanup, A virus scan(update it first), Norton WinDoctor(youd be supprised, this sucker fixes alot), Disk Defrag.
Hmm if all fails...try reinstalling xp (not a clean install)
If that fails...lemme know

ever thought about downloading winzip, winrar etc first ?......
just a though....but I'm sure your not that stupid...
Kernel32 errors normally mean a reinstall of win 95/98/me
or maybe they're asosciated with another program...
