Does anyone know of a simple firewall that asks when a new program tries to communicate with the internet and can let the user block or allow outbound communication? I really don't need much for inbound protection because I use a hardware firewall for that.

Have had some issues with ZA mentioned above in the past an wouldnt touch or recommend it and have heard others say the same. Think a better app thats simple to use and will do what you want is Syagte which has a freeware version...

Sygate is now owned by Symantec Corp, I believe.
I use Outpost, a bloody excellent firewall, and Kaspersky, the second best AV client out there.
IMHO.

It is and most likely will vanish as its been abandoned as far as I know due to the buyout.
However freeware version 5.6 is current and available on the net and will do what he wants...
