When using mIRC to download files, should I change the DCC port to something between 49152 and 65535, as I would with a bittorrent client? Thanks for any help.

I haven't heard of any isps reducing bandwidth for Mirc (which is generally why you change the port for bittorrent), so it probably wouldn't make a difference.
Its a different issue really, but if you can't download anything with mirc then you may need to forward the port from your router,
