    I have tried Groove but It isn't free. Is there any freeware that I can download to share with only ppl that i know.

    Aim, e-mail, sendspace, Limewire and get your friends I.P. address so you can transfer files to them.

    You can also setup a FTP server on your computer and give your friend your IP and port to directly download files from your computer. This is an excellent way to share large files with your friends. It's also useful if you're at work or school and you want to get something on your home computer. It has saved me a few times

    bittorrent - grab azureus and setup your own little tracker, and then share away. Most likely better than ftp, cos it has built in error checking.

    If you're just sharing music, use Soulseek.

    Add your friends user names to your list and select to only share with users in your list.

    You can set up an ftp server or if you dont have very good connection you can upload the files at websites like rapidshare.de
