Advanced Micro Devices may be looking to buy graphics company ATI Technologies, a move that would benefit the overall graphics industry, according to RBC Capital Markets.
"The synergies of this seem consistent with the recent announcements by AMD to significantly increase capacity over the next few-years," wrote analyst Apjit Walia in a note to investors Wednesday. "We believe ATI is a rare-buy in the semiconductor space right now given the near-term tie-up dynamics."

From that I've read elsewhere, this looks like more of an ATI stock boost rumour than anything concrete.
    .
Political correctness is based on the principle that it's possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

    why?

if AMD takes over ATI and AMAD has a hard time competeing with intel, AMD might draw alot of money from ATI to sustain itself........ thus leaving LESS resources for the latter to invest........

I never liked the idea of take overs , people lose jobs in what was a profitable venture only to sell out to the highest bidder . Competition is lost and Nvidia may gain from the broken communication between companies .

Think about it your one of the first to go .......... wheres that paper shredder again ?
