Thread: Do newsgroups (GrabIt) use any specific port?

    Grabit, and every other newsreader, uses whichever port you tell it to use. Grabit's default is 119 I believe.

    Some premium providers may offer the ability to connect on other ports, but 119 is reserved for usenet access.

    Default port is 119. Most newsgroups programs (ie grabit) can connect onto different ports. However, your newsgroups provider will have to provide connecting on different ports to take advantage of this feature.
