The original people of Sheringham are known as Shannocks,
but the origin of the word is unknown. There is a word Shanny
defined as Shatter Brained in use in East Anglia and it is thought that
Shannock was probably derived from this word and meant a wild reckless
lot of people
My family in Sheringham have lived and work here since 1739,
"kicked out of Yarmouth" one relation told me
I remember my Nan showing me a picture of her grandfather, his name was Horatio Loads, he owned a fair ground that travelled Norfolk.
The original Shannock breed is a dying breed,
only a few remain who have that bloodline.
The last I lost of my family was my dear Father & today being father’s day in the UK,
God Bless You Dad.
Sheringham has changed so much over the years, it's a better place now than ever.
You will have to have a trip to sea with me Sonja, the coastline is fantastic.
