For some extreme cooling get a YS-TECH 120mm it will push 180cfm down side is its noiser than a freight train.

But a good fan controller with all your large fans hooked up is bliss since you can turn them down in speed but still push lots more than your average 120mm fan.

My whole system stays very cool even with 2 6800GTs overclocked and my PCI wireless card producing some monster heat... Both 6800GT's temps are around 65c at full load.

Also make sure the intake allows for good airflow.
think that could also serve as a decrease in sound from 120mm's?
because my computer is hella loud and i need to tone it down...
You could also try the 7 volt trick to slow the fan down.

Plus speedfan for the cpu fan if the temps are good.

A 3-wire case fan would allow speedfan adjustment too.
I changed my 2-wire ones to 3s and Asus's on-board fan control seems to do a pretty good job.

What kind of tools could you use to cut the fan grill off? Bear in mind i'm a 16 year old with no job, so i can't exactly go out and buy a £200 special drill or whatever.

    Not all.
I can't control my northbridge fan (atleast on the plug it's plugged in to) which has the 3 connectors...
