    Is it possible at all? I know its not even out yet, but I'm praying to God that I can upgrade my Core Duo to a Core 2 Duo...

    Whats the diff? Is one dual core and one single?

    For all intents and purposes, they are basically the same thing, with the exception that the Core 2 duo is 25% faster on average (if the core duo is tied with the amd equivalent, and the core 2 duo is 25% faster than that same amd chip, it is logically 25% faster than the core duo chip as well) and that the Core 2 duo has EM64T (64 bit memory controller).

    Windows Vista 64 bit will have some added benefits over 32 bit. As such, I want to make sure my laptop can at least stay futureproof for the next few years.

    So core duo is like an earlier version of core 2 duo im guessing...how long has it been out?
